First Priestly Anniversary of Father Jorge Reyes
This weekend, the St. Agnes community joyfully gives thanks to God for the first anniversary of the priestly ordination of Father Jorge Reyes.
My dear brother, I wish to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for the generosity with which you have lived your first year of priesthood among us.
Thank you for the availability of your heart, for your faithful service in the celebration of the sacraments, and for the readiness with which you seek to be present to our people in their spiritual needs. The priesthood is never merely a function or profession; it is the daily offering of one’s life in love and service to Christ and His Church.
As Pastores Dabo Vobis beautifully reminds us, the priest is called to be “a living image of Jesus Christ, the Head and Shepherd of the Church.” Such a vocation is both a profound gift and a sacred responsibility, one lived not in a single moment, but through daily fidelity to grace.
In the words of Pope Leo XIV:
“The Lord does not seek perfect priests, but hearts humble enough to be formed by His mercy and generous enough to love His people with the heart of Christ.”
On this anniversary, we give thanks to Almighty God for the gift of your vocation and priestly ministry. We pray that He who has begun this good work in you may continue to deepen your priestly heart, strengthen you in charity, and grant you perseverance, humility, and joy for many years to come.
Thank you for walking with us in the pastoral mission of St. Agnes and for offering your gifts so generously in service to this community.
With gratitude and fraternal affection.
Your brother in Christ,
Fr. jc
