Liturgical Ministries

  • Acolytes assist the priest at the altar during the celebration of the Mass and other liturgical services. Their service enhances the reverence, order, and beauty of the liturgy, helping the congregation to enter more deeply into worship.

This ministry is open to adult men who are fully initiated in the Catholic faith (having received Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) and who feel called to serve the Church in a deeper way. Acolytes may also assist with the distribution of Holy Communion when needed.

At St. Agnes, acolytes are invited and appointed by the pastor and receive the appropriate training and guidance for this sacred role.

For more information, please contact the parish office: info@stagneskb.org

  • The Altar Servers Ministry invites children to actively participate in the celebration of the Mass by assisting the priest at the altar during parish liturgies.

Students who have received their First Holy Communion are eligible to serve, provided they attend one of our Altar Server Training Sessions, offered in both the Fall and Spring.

Serving at the altar helps children grow in reverence, responsibility, and love for the Eucharist.

  • The Church seeks to make the Body of Christ accessible to all Catholics who have received First Holy Communion. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are faithful lay people who, after proper instruction, assist the parish priests by distributing Holy Communion at Mass and bringing it to the sick and homebound.

Each minister is prayerfully selected by the pastor of the parish and must complete the required training and formation.

    REQUEST COMMUNION

  • The Lector Ministry plays a vital role in the life of our St. Agnes community. Lectors proclaim the Word of God during the celebration of the Mass, helping to bring Scripture to life for the congregation.

This ministry requires strong language skills and a confident, prayerful presence in public speaking. For this reason, lectors must be carefully chosen, spiritually prepared, and well-trained, so that the faithful may clearly hear, understand, and receive the Word of God.

  • “He who sings prays twice.” – St. Augustine

Music is a beautiful offering of praise, thanksgiving, and prayer. At St. Agnes, our Music Ministry uplifts and inspires the faithful, enhancing the celebration of the Mass through sacred song.

Music at most liturgies is led by volunteer choirs and cantors, reflecting the rich diversity of our parish community. Participating in the Music Ministry—whether by singing or playing an instrument—not only deepens your own worship experience but also helps build community and draw others closer to God.

  • Sacristans play a quiet but essential role in the celebration of the Mass and the reverent care of the church. They are responsible for preparing the altar, sacred vessels, vestments, and other liturgical items before Mass, and for ensuring everything is properly cared for afterward.

This behind-the-scenes ministry is one of devotion, attention to detail, and love for the Eucharist. Sacristans help create an atmosphere of prayerful order and reverence so that the liturgy can unfold with dignity and grace.

At St. Agnes, sacristans are appointed by the pastor and receive training for their responsibilities.

Spiritual Ministries & Groups

  • A Place of Silence, Prayer, and Encounter

Our Perpetual Adoration Chapel is a sacred space where parishioners can spend quiet, uninterrupted time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This ministry is made possible by dedicated adorers who commit to spending one hour each week in prayer before the Eucharist. Through their presence, the chapel remains a continuous place of worship, intercession, and peace for our entire community.

“Could you not watch one hour with Me?” – Matthew 26:40

We invite you to consider joining this beautiful ministry by becoming a weekly adorer. Spend time in silence, speak to Him from your heart, and allow yourself to be transformed by His presence.

  • Growing in faith, sharing in community, living the Gospel

The Why Catholic Ministry brings together small Christian communities of 8 to 12 parishioners who gather weekly to reflect on Sacred Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. These small groups create a supportive and intimate space for evangelization, adult faith formation, and spiritual growth.

Groups meet once a week for two cycles of six consecutive weeks each year. Meetings are held either in the Pastoral Center or in the homes of participants.

You are welcome to join an existing group—or form a new one! Each group is encouraged not only to grow in faith, but also to put that faith into action by serving those in need. The ministry also hosts an annual retreat for reflection, fellowship, and shared prayer among the community.

We invite the St. Agnes community to participate in our Ministry to cook for our homeless of Camillus House. Once per month, in the comfort of your own kitchen, you prepare a meal using a recipe we provide. We also provide the containers in which you will freeze the food.

On the first Thursday of each month we ask that you bring the frozen cooked meal to St. Agnes between 11:15 and 11:30 am, and we will deliver it to Camillus House. It is an easy way to feed 10 homeless persons per container.

  • Defending life from conception to natural death

The Respect Life Ministry at St. Agnes raises awareness about the threats to human dignity and religious liberty in our country. Rooted in Catholic social teaching, we promote the sacredness of life, marriage, and family through parish-wide education, prayer, and action.

We organize talks, seminars, pro-life activities, and support efforts across the Parish, Academy, and CCD programs.

This ministry also supports the Archdiocese of Miami’s pregnancy crisis centers, offering compassion and material assistance to mothers in need, and encouraging them to choose life. Volunteers meet as needed at home or at the South Dade Pregnancy Center.

You can help by joining us—or by praying a Pro-Life Rosary or offering Pro-Life Prayers.
