From Ashes to Resurrection

Over the past weeks, our St. Agnes parish family has journeyed together through one of the most meaningful seasons of the Church: from the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday to the joy of Easter.

Our journey began with the simple yet powerful reminder: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” Marked with ashes, we entered into a season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, preparing our hearts for the mystery of Christ’s saving love. Throughout Lent, our community gathered in reflection and the sacraments, growing together and drawing closer to the Lord.

This journey reached its summit during Holy Week and the Sacred Triduum. On Palm Sunday, we welcomed the Lord with cries of “Hosanna,” beginning the path that would lead us to the Cross. During the days that followed, our parish entered more deeply into the mystery of Christ’s Passion.

On Holy Thursday, we remembered the gift of the Eucharist and the priesthood. On Good Friday, we stood at the foot of the Cross in reverence and silence.
And on Holy Saturday, we waited in hope.
Then, in the beauty of the Easter Vigil, our parish rejoiced as catechumens received the Sacraments of Initiation, entering fully into the life of the Church, a powerful witness of new life in Christ.
Easter Sunday was filled with joy, as so many parishioners and visitors gathered to celebrate the Resurrection, proclaiming together that Christ is truly risen!

We also witnessed this same spirit of faith and reverence within our Academy, where students participated in beautiful celebrations filled with prayer and song, entering into these sacred mysteries in a meaningful and joyful way, such as the reenactment of the Passion of Jesus.

We give thanks for all who made these days so prayerful and beautiful, for our clergy, staff, volunteers, ministries, and every member of our parish community.

As we continue in the joy of the Easter season, may we carry this journey in our hearts, living as witnesses of the Risen Christ! Jesus is risen, He is risen indeed!
