Congratulations, Alicia Poma!

A note by Fr. jc

Dear Parish Family,

Blessings!

It fills me with great joy to share that one of our own, Alicia Poma, a 4th-grade student at St. Agnes Academy, was named first runner-up in the inaugural “Why I Love My Village” essay contest here in Key Biscayne.

Alicia is originally from El Salvador and has been part of our St. Agnes family since PK4. In her essay, Alicia described living on Key Biscayne as a “privilege,” ending with the beautiful words that the Island is “not just my home, but part of who I am too.”

Her reflection, along with those of other children, beautifully captured the spirit of our community, its sense of belonging, gratitude, and care for one another. Her heartfelt words remind us that when we recognize the blessings around us, we begin to see God’s presence in our everyday life.

Congratulations, Alicia! May your example inspire other young hearts to express their gratitude and love for the place we call home.

Alicia, we are very proud of you!

Fr. jc
